Mission Statement:

The New York Engineers Legislative Committee is an ad-hoc Committee comprised of delegates from the metropolitan area Local Unions of the International Union of Operating Engineers, and Chapters of the National Association of Power Engineers, representing a membership responsible for the design, installation, maintenance and operation of equipment utilized in the generation of steam, electricity and refrigeration.  The mission of this committee is to hold frequent discussions relative to the details of examining and licensing of operating engineers, the safe operation of plants and facilities, to foster and promote public safety, as well as encourage the conservation of our nations natural resources.

International Union of Operating Engineers

The IUOE Locals are chartered and recognized by the State of New York for their Apprenticeship, Training & Safety programs which produce a highly qualified and skilled tradesman/Engineer benefiting our industry; New York City’s economy; the safety and welfare of our membership, FDNY personnel as well as the general public.

The National Association Of Power Engineers

The Chapters of NAPE are continuing a legacy established in 1882: “promoting a civic consciousness by means of education, legislation and public relations for the protection of life and property; the furtherance of high ethical standards and the creation of a social and fraternal interest among it’s members”. In 1967, a third party accredited licensing agency was founded and incorporated as NIULPE.  Most NAPE chapters conduct educational & training programs modeled after the NIULPE format and assist Engineers in obtaining their licenses and credentials.

The IUOE, NAPE & NIULPE are chartered as non-profit organizations, which serve a higher civic and fraternal duty as they are accountable to a Constitution & By-Laws; an elected Board of Officers, Directors, Trustees and Rank in File Committees on the Local, State and National levels.
